Following an invitation from the new Commander of the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ΕΛΔΥΚ), Colonel (Infantry) Spyridon Gkoulousis, a meeting was held on 23 June in the presence of representatives of the sports community and the Olympic family.

The Commander of the Hellenic Force in Cyprus (ΕΛΔΥΚ,) received the delegation at the ΕΛΔΥΚOfficers’ Club, accompanied by his aides-de-camp. Among those attending the meeting were the President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation (ΚΟΑ), Mr Yiannis Ioannou, the President of the Cyprus Olympians Association (ΚΕΣΟΑ), Mr Costas Papacostas, OLY, and the Chairman of the Friends of the Cyprus Olympians Association, Mr Damianos Hadjidamianou.

A particular honour was the presence of distinguished Greek Olympian and former international basketball player Dimitrios Diamantidis, OLY.

During the meeting, the President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation welcomed the new Commander to Cyprus, expressing the Organisation’s appreciation for ΕΛΔΥΚ’s longstanding contribution to our country. For his part, Colonel Gkoulousis thanked those present for their warm welcome and expressed his intention to meet the expectations of the Cypriot people.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of commemorative gifts. The President of the Cyprus Sports Organisation, Mr Yiannis Ioannou, and the President of the Cyprus Olympians Association, Mr Costas Papacostas, OLY, presented the Commander with tokens of appreciation. On this occasion, Mr Papacostas presented the Commander with the publications of the Cyprus Olympians Association.
