Mr. Costas Papacostas OLY, President of the Cyprus Olympians Association and Special Advisor on Sports to the President of the Republic, held a meeting on Monday, 16 March 2026, with the Rector of the University of Cyprus, Professor Tasos Christofides. <\/p>\n\n
The meeting took place in a particularly friendly and constructive atmosphere, reaffirming the strong connection between sports and the academic community, as well as the role of Cypriot Olympians as carriers of the Olympic values and role models for the younger generation.<\/p>\n\n
At the center of the discussions was the prospect of signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the University of Cyprus and the Cyprus Olympian Association, aiming to establish a strong framework for joint actions and initiatives.<\/p>\n\n

At the same time, the importance of cultivating Olympic values such as fair play, discipline and teamwork was highlighted as fundamental pillars for the development of well-rounded individuals.<\/p>\n\n
During the meeting, Mr Papacostas informed the Rector that the Cyprus Olympian Association (KESOA) has the full support of the State and the Cyprus Sports Organization (KOA) and fully expressed his optimism for possible collaboration between Cyprus Olympians and the University of Cyprus.<\/p>\n\n
From his side, the Rector reaffirmed the University of Cyprus\u2019 commitment to actively supporting initiatives that strengthen sports and contribute to the overall development of its students.<\/p>\n\n
