On Thursday, 17 September 2026, the President of the Cyprus Olympians Association (K.E.S.O.A.) and Sports Advisor to the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr Costas Papacostas OLY, together with the Treasurer of K.E.S.O.A., Mr Christos Christodoulides, had the honour of attending a special event honouring athletes of the Cyprus Judo Federation, at the invitation of the Ambassador of Japan to Cyprus, H.E. Mr Satoshi Iwasaki.

During the reception, athletes Petros Christodoulides, Zanet Michaelidou, Kyprianos Andreou, Christos Demetriades and Aristos Michael were honoured for their achievements and international presence. Also present were the athletes’ coaches, who play a pivotal role in their sporting journeys and continued success. Ambassador Iwasaki presented the athletes with commemorative certificates, expressing his admiration for their impressive results and the continued progress of Cypriot judo.

The Cyprus Olympians Association extends its warmest congratulations to the athletes on their achievements and to their coaches for their invaluable contribution. The Association sincerely thanks the Ambassador of Japan, H.E. Mr Satoshi Iwasaki, for his gracious invitation and warm hospitality, as well as for his continued contribution to strengthening the bonds of friendship between Cyprus and Japan.
